Explore the house
Visitors ascending the grand staircase in the entrance hall find a magnificent surprise above: a stained-glass dome of mosaic design in an eight-sided temple. The dome is one of the most impressive features of the house.
The second floor is much less ornate than the first, as it was not a public space. Five bedrooms, each with its own private bath, and a center sitting area occupied the front portion of the second floor. The servants' wing is in the rear. Elisabeth Scott’s bedroom is quite lovely with its plaster frieze featuring frolicking babies in the woods. Decorating bedrooms with little gods of love is a tradition that goes back centuries.
